About the Recording...
In this carefully selected series of
lovely and obscure ballads, Jay Corre exhibits his growth, maturity and
virtuosity as a jazz artist. Jay reveals his love and mastery of the
ballad idiom in this set and rightfully reaches a plateau equal to that
of other jazz masters who have preceeded him, but whohave enjoyed
greater exposure and publicity. With this lovely performance, Jay Corre
justly takes his niche alongside the greats.
When I mentioned how impressed I was
with the fact that he was so careful and sparing in his embelishmentsof
these lovely ballads, Jay stated that is why he researched long and
hard and to be so selective in his choice of materials so that his
portrayal would not over shadow these beautiful and obscure songs, but
enhance them with tone and substance, rather than merely a show of
technique for self gratification. It is my belief that Jay Corre
accomplished his mission thoroughly, allowing the listener to come away
with the feeling of having been exposed to a musician who approaches
his music with love and a nurturing respect for the composer's theme
